We are seeking a skilled and motivated Data Engineer with a solid background in software engineering, data science, and data lake architecture. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the medallion architecture and be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining robust data pipelines and lakehouse solutions that power business intelligence, analytics, and data science initiatives.
We offer a bespoke data lake solution to our customers, the role will entail understanding of business requirements and tailoring the solution around their business. Implementation of the the 3 layers within the medallion architecture is required to ensure data storage, data processing and data architecture is sufficient to enable business decisions.
Minimum Requirements
- 5 + years of experience in a data engineering or closely related role.
- Strong programming experience in Python, SQL, and object - oriented programming languages(e.g., Java or Scala).
- Solid experience with data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark, Databricks, or PySpark.
- Hands - on experience with cloud platforms(e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP) and cloud - native storage(S3, ADLS, etc.).
- Experience in using Business Intelligence and Data visualisation(PowerBI, Tableau etc.)
- Strong understanding of data lakes, data lakehouses, and the medallion architecture.
- Exposure to data modeling and data warehousing best practices.
- Experience working with data science workflows and integrating ML models into pipelines is a plus.
- Comfortable using version control (e.g., Git), CI / CD pipelines, and infrastructure - as - code practices.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize data pipelines using modern ELT/ETL tools and practices.
- Implement and maintain data lake architectures with a focus on the medallion architecture(Bronze, Silver, Gold layers)
- Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, and analysts to integrate structured and unstructured data sources.
- Develop and maintain scalable data models and transformation logic using SQL, Python, and/or Spark.
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and governance across data layers and sources.
- Monitor data pipelines and troubleshoot data-related issues across environments.
- Work closely with DevOps or platform teams to manage infrastructure (e.g., Spark clusters, Delta Lake, cloud storage).
- Document technical designs, data flows, and operational procedures.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Delta Lake or similar transactional storage layers.
- Background in data science or ML engineering.
- Experience with real - time streaming frameworks(e.g., Kafka, Flink).
- Knowledge of data privacy regulations and security practices.
